Corrupt Cup Contest

Client(s): Freelance

This is a game I’m developing around my freelance commitments. The game is a tongue-in-cheek management game, in which players must financially outbid and politically outmaneuver their opponents in order to win the rights to host the world’s premier international sports tournament.

The game is inspired by the corruption scandals that have occurred at FIFA, the IAAF and other organisations.

I’m managing all aspects of the project as the lead developer, designer and creative director. I’m working with a group of freelancers to help develop assets for the game.

My Role – In Depth

Networking

The game requires a large amount of networking as the game is designed to be played online. I’ve had to carefully design and implement all networking in the game which done incorrectly, can be a serious headache.

Project Management

My project management skills have also been tested heavily with this project. I’ve managed all aspects of development and my responsibilities encompass multiple disciplines. I need to ensure all work done with contractors is carefully planned to not waste time and money.

Sport has a corruption problem, but rather than handwaving it away by focusing only on the good bits, Corrupt Cup Contest chooses to embrace this shady side of organised competition.
